Inspector Ajit Rathod (Ajay Devgn) is on a mission to eliminate a notorious terrorist Azhar Khan (Rahul Dev) who killed his wife (Koena Mitra) and the latter is underground from the eyes of law and planning to destroy Mumbai. In the meantime, Kaali falls in love with Kalaiarasi (Catherine Tresa), and she too reciprocates his feelings. The two parties and their supporters get into frequent clashes and scrapes. The painting of Kannan’s father’s face has been on the wall for two decades, since the start of the feud. The other party chief is Kannan (Poster Nandakumar) and his son Perumal (Mime Gopi) who are hell bent in making sure that their opponents efforts go in vain. Anbu, under the local leader of one of the opposing parties, Maari (Charles Vinoth), is determined to claim that wall for their own party. In a long-standing bloody feud, two factions of a political party have been laying claim to a wall on which they can paint the portraits of their respective political leaders. They along with their gang live in the dilapidated flats of the housing board in Vyasarpadi, North Chennai. His best friend is Anbu (Kalaiyarasan), who is a young political aspirant. Kaali (Karthi) is an impulsive and short-tempered working class man who works in an IT company and enjoys playing football during his free time. Vaseegaran’s effort to prove Bohra wrong fails when he deploys Chitti to rescue people from a burning building. During the evaluation, Chitti attempts to stab Vaseegaran at Bohra’s command, which convinces the evaluation committee that the robot is a liability and cannot be used for military purposes. Vaseegaran prepares Chitti for an evaluation by the Artificial Intelligence Research and Development (AIRD) Institute, which is headed by Bohra. Vaseegaran’s mentor, Professor Bohra, is secretly engaged in a project to create similar android robots for a terrorist organisation, but has so far been unsuccessful. Chitti helps Sana, Vaseegaran’s medical student girlfriend, cheat in her examination, then saves her from being assaulted by a group of thugs. He introduces the robot, named Chitti, at a robotics conference in Chennai. After a decade of research, the scientist Vaseegaran creates a sophisticated android robot with the help of his assistants, Siva and Ravi, to commission it into the Indian Army.
